The Unanderra Conference of the SVDP society meets in the St Joseph’s Room located at the rear of the Immaculate Conception Church every Tuesday evening at 7.30pm. The primary role of the society is the care of the poor and needy in society.

The Story of St. Vincent de Paul Society

Saint Vincent de Paul (April 24, 1581 – September 27, 1660) was a French Catholic priest known for his dedication to serving the poor and founding the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians) to educate and train clergy. He is recognized as the patron saint of charitable societies and is celebrated for his compassion and charity towards those in need. Canonized by Pope Clement X in 1737, his legacy continues to inspire charitable works worldwide.

The St Vincent de Paul Society was founded in Paris in 1833 by 20‑year‑old university student, Frederic Ozanam and his friends. "Vinnies" was first active in NSW in 1881 and continues to provide assistance to people experiencing disadvantage. Vinnies Shops celebrated their centenary of operation in 2022.
